Copy commissions

Apologies and thanks to Frank Frazetta.

As an exercise I painted a version of the Kong painting I saw at the Frazetta museum. It’s close to the original painting size, on a birch plywood panel. Failure matched by hubris, I found new appreciation and respect relearning there can only be one FF.

It’s maybe OK enough, for something that was destined to be a dust pan It fetched $200 for charity.

I like a challenge. I met a man at that same show, not only a Frazetta fan but knew him personally. He said he was an owner of original art but has been priced out of the market, his wife’s favorite painting was The Egyptian Queen. I offered to paint her one, on spec for 0.02% of $6,000,000.00, if he didn’t like it the deal was off.

Next for him was Princess of Mars, not my first attempt, in my sophomore year in high school we were asked to copy a favorite painting. I made an acrylic mess. This one is better.
